Ocean Raid – Atlantic Grand Prix: The Fleet Sets Sail for a Transatlantic Crossing with Ausmar’s Sponsorship

The excitement of the Ocean Raid – Atlantic Grand Prix started on Sunday! This transatlantic event, organized by Difusión Náutica and the Skipper Nautical Club, in collaboration with Marina Rubicón, Marina de Mindelo and Marina du Marin, is specially sponsored by Ausmar.

The fleet is heading towards Cape Verde to cover the first stage, Lanzarote-Mindelo, of 955 miles. The organizers estimate that the fleet will arrive in Mindelo on January 13th. Then, the fleet is expected to resume navigation on January 17th to cover the second stage: Cape Verde-Martinique, of 2,083 nautical miles.

With 8 boats registered, 7 set sail, including two solo sailors, José Antonio Martín’s Vagabundo with 19 Atlantic crossings to his name, and Fernando Goizueta’s magnificent Baltic 52 Siesta, sailed single-handed.
