Duarry liferafts, our specialty
We design, manufacture and inspect them.
Why review them?
The revision of a lifesaving and/or safety equipment has a fundamental reason: to guarantee its correct operation at the moment of an emergency. That is why the liferaft must always be checked and updated, so that when it has to be used, it will be fully operational.
We know that neither the best fabrics nor the best accessories are enough, and that not even the most expert hands can compete against the inclement weather or the environmental conditions of the sea, where temperature changes occur throughout the year, going from low temperatures in winter to very high in summer and always combined with humidity and saltpeter.
The ISO liferaft, whether in bag or container format, is protected inside by a watertight vacuum bag which, among other things, helps to compact the liferaft and protect it from environmental humidity as a second barrier (after the bag or container).
On the other hand, this extreme compaction means that with the passage of time, especially due to the thermal gradients that occur at sea, the fabrics that make up the raft may deteriorate and not be in optimal conditions for use if the fabric has not been worked on annually, giving it the necessary flexibility to receive a sudden discharge ofCO2. The same can happen with certain materials such as lithium batteries, batteries, etc.
The verification of the rest of the material is also essential, so the condition and expiration dates of each and every one of the materials that make up the liferaft are checked periodically.
Layer anchor
Thanks to the ply anchor, we prevent the raft from drifting out of control, as well as helping the raft’s stability bags to hold the raft in position and weather the storm.the ply anchor consists of a sufficiently long halyard with a four-point end that grips the rigid ring of the anchor. This ring serves at the same time as a fastening for the high resistance fabric sewn in the form of a cone that will provide the necessary current drag to stop the movement of the raft as much as possible and thus facilitate the search and rescue of the castaways from the issue of the last position.

The first aid kit
A shipwreck is always a time of uncertainty, so sometimes accidents occur before boarding the raft that can cause bruises, burns, wounds or just general discomfort.
For all these reasons, Duarry rafts always come equipped with the most complete first aid kit possible, of Spanish manufacture and CE marked.
In the same way, thinking about the time you will be inside the raft before being rescued and attended, it is equipped with pills to avoid seasickness as well as bandages and other elements.

The firing head
The setting and condition of the trigger must be optimal so that at the moment of pulling the trigger nozzle (connected to the trigger cable and pin) it strikes the shutter diaphragm letting out the inflation gas that will shape our liferaft.
This care will make the difference between a liferaft being triggered or not.

The knife
This is the first element that we will have within reach as soon as we board the raft, and it will also be the first thing we will use to release the raft from the ship once it has been fired and when at least one of all the castaways is on board the raft.
Knife with floating stainless steel handle and rounded tip to avoid damaging or puncturing the balsa. Sharp blade protected with a non-elastic plastic rubber sheath. This knife is attached to the raft by means of a thin line, which prevents it from getting lost at sea and allows it to reach any part of the raft where it may be necessary.

Pyrotechnics
The good condition of pyrotechnics can mean the difference between being sighted by a ship or aircraft or not being sighted at all. For this reason, every year we check that each product is in perfect condition so that, when the moment comes that it is necessary to launch a rocket, light a flare or activate a smoke canister, there is no more inconvenience than worrying about being attended by the rescuer.
The Duarry ISO raft always carries three flares, two parachute rockets and a smoke canister. These should be used downwind and according to the manufacturer’s instructions, with the smoke canister for daytime use and flares and rockets more visible at night. The rocket gives the rescuer an idea of positioning, direction and direction over long distances. The flare gives the rescuer the exact positioning of the raft.

Collects and discharges water

Radar reflector
This is an essential element for our location. It does not require any active attitude for it other than deploying, inflating and tying it to the raft by means of the tie line.
The ingenious measure of inserting the metallized fabric reflector inside a watertight rubber ball avoids having to worry about its deterioration or sinking and allows us to be reachable in any weather condition and at any time.

Flexible fabric
The importance of a good flexible fabric is vital to ensure a perfect inflation and to withstand the necessary time to be rescued.
To ensure the flexibility of our fabrics it is not enough to use the best natural rubbers, we must inflate the liferaft at least once a year to check that due to the change of temperatures and vacuum packing no wrinkles have occurred that turn into cracks or holes. These can be fatal in such a delicate moment as the launching of the liferaft for an evacuation.

TPA
The TPA or thermal protection and support system provides the required thermal stability during twilight and night time, or in adverse weather conditions, thus avoiding hypothermia.
It is an aluminized bag that refracts the heat radiated by the human body. Its condition must be optimal in order to fulfill its function.
